There is a range of funding options to support you while you train on a School Direct course.
Training Bursaries and Scholarships
Bursaries and scholarships are available for the training fee school direct route (not salaried). You can only receive one type of funding (i.e you cannot receive a bursary and a scholarship).
You can get up to £26,000 as a tax-free bursary, depending on which subject you intend to teach (please see the table below for courses starting in September 2019).

You do not need to apply for a bursary – once you are enrolled on the course and meet the eligibility criteria for your subject, you will begin receiving payments at the beginning of your course. You will need to apply for a scholarship, however, directly to the professional body/association awarding the scholarship. If you don’t receive a scholarship you will still be eligible to receive the bursary. Further information available HERE
Loans are available to support your training fees this is available through Student Finance England and the Student Loans Company
You can use the Loan Calculator to work out an estimate of your loan repayments, however loans are repayable only once you are in full-time employment and earning above a certain amount.
You may also be eligible for financial support to help with accommodation and living costs with a maintenance loan.
