Bursaries & Financial Support

What financial support is available?

There is a range of funding options to support you while you train on a School Direct course.

Training Bursaries and Scholarships

Bursaries and scholarships are available for the training fee school direct route (not salaried).  You can only receive one type of funding (i.e you cannot receive a bursary and a scholarship).

You can get up to £26,000 as a tax-free bursary, depending on which subject you intend to teach (please see the table below for courses starting in September 2018).

You do not need to apply for a bursary – once you are enrolled on the course and meet the eligibility criteria for your subject, you will begin receiving payments at the beginning of your course.
