· a UK degree or equivalent qualification
For secondary applicants this should be in, or closely related to, your proposed teaching subject. As a guideline we would expect that at least 50% of your degree is relevant to the National Curriculum subject you intend to teach.
For primary applicants, the degree does not need to be subject specific but all other entry requirements listed below apply.
For qualifications obtained outside the United Kingdom, DfE or ENIC confirmation must be obtained to show the equivalence of the qualifications held either by contacting or visiting ENIC
The evidence provided in the equivalency statement should be forwarded to the training provider.
· GCSE English Language, Mathematics (and Science for primary applicants) grade C or above, or an approved equivalent qualification. Primary applicants must have the relevant GCSE level qualifications at the time of applying (for secondary this would be at the start of the course). For applicants holding a conditional offer, who have not got a grade C or above (or equivalent) in Mathematics or English, will need to undertake an equivalency test www.equivalencytesting.com
The following criteria would be expected once an offer of a place has been made:
· Fitness to Teach
Admission to the course is subject to a satisfactory medical report, as you are required to meet the standards for ‘Fitness to Teach’.
· Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
For all initial teacher training courses, applicants must complete forms requesting an Enhanced Disclosure from the DBS, and be expected to have actioned this requirement prior to any school placement. In addition you will be required to disclose previous offences to Bluecoat SCITT Alliance.
ALL ORIGINAL GCSE (or equivalents) CERTIFICATES WILL NEED TO BE SEEN AND VERIFIED BEFORE THE START OF THE PROGRAMME, it is important that copy certificates (if necessary) are requested in good time so as not to delay any offer.
