Settling in with Bluecoat SCITT Alliance
THE FIRST FEW WEEKS AS A TRAINEE TEACHER HAVE BEEN NOTHING SHORT OF REFRESHING ….
Teaching has always been my passion from a very young age, when I’d line up my teddy bears, and ‘fake’ teach playfully. That childlike curiosity has grown into a lifelong commitment helping others learn.
While my experience as a coach gave me an early taste of guiding and motivating others, stepping into a classroom has revealed an entirely new level of professionalism, structure, and purpose. I’ve loved adapting to this environment and discovering the balance between enthusiasm, presence, creativity and consistency. Each day has deepened my understanding of what it truly means to be a teacher, and it’s been an incredibly rewarding start to the journey.
Settling into life with Bluecoat SCITT Alliance has been seamless. The staff and wider community have been incredibly welcoming and supportive, creating an environment where I feel both valued and encouraged to grow. I’m especially grateful for my mentor and my subject lead – Anna – whose guidance and inspiration have made the transition into teaching not only smooth but genuinely fulfilling

Additionally, my background in coaching has provided a solid foundation giving me an initial insight into communication, motivation, and leadership that now shapes my ‘classroom’ practice.
Looking Ahead at My Teaching Journey
I’m excited to continue growing into a strong, firm yet empathetic teacher. My aim is to be a positive role model and to inspire every pupil to see the value of sport and physical activity in everyday life.
Advice to Future Teachers
If I could send one message to someone who is thinking of getting into teaching, it would be ‘Don’t hesitate, do it!’ Be the reason a pupil smiles, learns, and dreams bigger. There’s no greater reward than shaping the future of one’s dream.
