TEACHING TASTER SESSIONS

Attending our Taster sessions will give you a real insight into teacher training and life in school and help you get a better understanding of a fulfilling career in the teaching profession and how you can have a significant impact on the lives of young people. It will also provide an opportunity to clarify any specific questions on your mind!

We will support you with..

  • Gaining an early understanding and appreciation of teaching strategies
  • Any help you require with your teacher training application
  • Being able to ask lots of questions

What does the Session look like?

8:45 – 9:00 am Arrival & Welcome with SCITT team
9:00 – 10:00 am Routes into Teaching
10:00 – 11:00 am Lesson drop-ins
11:00 – 11:20 am Break with SCITT team
11:20 – 12:20 pm Training session with Bluecoat SCITT
12:20 – 12:30 pm Q&A and close

Many of our trainees over the years have attended a Taster Sessions, supporting and informing their decision making, and went on to successfully complete their teacher training!

Check if you meet the Entry Criteria for Teacher Training

  1. You’ll need to hold an undergraduate DEGREE awarded by a UK higher education provider, or a recognised equivalent qualification
  2. You’ll need to have achieved a standard equivalent to grade C (4) or above in GCSE English and Mathematics
  3. If you intend to train to teach pupils aged 3-11 (early years and primary), you must also have achieved a standard equivalent to a grade C(4) or above in a GCSE Science subject
